Chris Ferguson Scores Victory At Virginia
Jamaica, Virginia - The Ultimate Super Late Model Series Southeast Region traveled to Bill Sawyer's Virginia Motor Speedway located in Jamaica, Virginia on Saturday August 6th for the "46th Annual Ernie Shelton USA 100" event paying $20,000 to win. The event was also a bonus race for the Heart of America Ultimate Super Late Model Series Region. 22 competitors signed into Saturdays 50 lap event all seeing who could claim their spot in victory lane.
Chris Ferguson of Mount Holly, North Carolina held off a hard charging Russell Erwin in the final laps to score his second career Ernie Shelton USA 100 victory along with his sixteenth career Ultimate Super Late Model Series Southeast Region victory Saturday at Virginia Motor Speedway. Erwin made multiple attempts in the final laps pulling along side Ferguson, but ended the night with a strong second place finish. Gregg Satterlee, Zack Mitchell, and Kyle Hardy rounded out the top five finishers. Doug Sanders raced his way from 16th to finish 8th. The fast qualifier was Chris Ferguson with a time of 17.797 seconds. Heat race winners included Chris Ferguson, Zack Mitchell, and Russell Erwin.
The next event currently scheduled for the Heart of America Ultimate Super Late Model Series Region is set for August 19th-20th at Richmond Raceway located in Richmond, Kentucky for the "Butterball Wooldridge Memorial" event paying $20,059 to win.
